Back Pack and School Supply Drive

Bryn Athyn, Pa. - As school districts across North America tighten their purse strings, classroom supplies get older and shabbier until there aren’t enough to go around the classroom. With limited school supplies available, teachers and parents end up spending their own hard-earned money to buy pencils, pens, notebooks, and textbooks for students whose families cannot afford them. On top of paying for school supplies, teachers also usually end up paying for photocopies, chalk, blackboard markers, posters, and classroom décor out of their own pockets.

Bryn Athyn Athletics is committed in helping local schools by collecting new and gently used backpacks for students in the Philadelphia area. Starting this summer, the Department of Athletics will start collecting school supplies for those who cannot afford them. The school supply drive will continue through the summer, and end September 1st.

Anyone who would like to contribute to the school supply drive may drop their items off at the Department of Athletics.

In September, members of Bryn Athyn College’s fall sport teams will travel down to Philadelphia schools and deliver the items.
