Bryn Athyn athletics takes part in NCAA Division III Special Olympics 50 for 50th Challenge

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Bryn Athyn College student-athletics spent time with the Rotary Special Athlete Group of Hatboro for a pair of events as part of the NCAA Division III National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee 50 for 50th Challenge on December 8 and January 31.

In celebration of the Special Olympics' 50th anniversary, the NCAA challenged their Division III institutions to have at least fifty of their student-athletes participate at Special Olympics events over the span of six months from August 1, 2018 through February 28, 2019.

In the interest of strengthening the relationship between our local collegiate and special athletes, players joined forces in a volleyball tournament at the Bryn Athyn Church School. BAC Athletics was represented by 55 of our student-athletes on these two dates, hailing from various teams across campus. A catered lunch and as arts & crafts were available for those not competing in sporting events, which gave participants a great opportunity to communicate with one another and build relationships off the court. The camaraderie established between our student-athletes and those from the Rotary Club Athlete Group made for a pair of fun-filled evenings. Our players walked away from each event with a myriad of new friendships, as well as memories they will never forget.

Bryn Athyn College would like to extend our thanks to the Rotary Athlete Group for hosting such a wonderful event, and we look forward to our future endeavors together this March and beyond.
