Adams and McCurdy, Bryn Athyn Photo Contest Winners

Bryn Athyn, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn Athletic department today released the winners of the Bryn Athyn Around the World Photo Contest. Congratulations to Holly Adams and Blake McCurdy for their entries, " Bryn Athyn Athletics Gets Pumped for the Upcoming Year" and "Bryn Athyn Athletics At Its Finest."

How was the Lion's head made?

"Blake free handed the outline of the head onto two pieces of cardboard. We then connected the two pieces together with another strip of cardboard and used bunched up newspaper to create the cheeks. After the shape of the head was how we wanted it, we used paper-mache to cover the entire head. After numerous layers of paper-mache, we began the painting process. As I began to paint the lion's face, Blake sewed the tail and mittens for the costume portion of the mascot. When the tail and mittens were complete, he helped finish painting the rest of the head and after four layers of paint, the mascot was complete!" - Adams
