BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College was defeated by Delaware Valley University 4-0 in a non-conference match Wednesday night on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.
Samantha Collyer scored the Aggies' (5-8) first two goals of the contest in opening 17:12. On the first goal, she was left all alone at the top of the arc, drove straight in on keeper Macey Mitchell, dribbled around Mitchell, and delivered a backhand sweep into the vacant net at the 5:21 mark. Collyer's second goal came on a rebound at the left post after Carlie Baldus took a shot from the other side of the net.
Gillian Nardelli increased the Del Val lead to three when she redirected a slap pass from Alexa Aguilar that came from outside the arc at 26:06.
Thanks to a 15-save performance in the second half from Mitchell, the Lions clamped down defensively. Baldus was the only one to break through the Lion defense during the final 35 minutes, dribbling around Mitchell on a breakaway with 13:17 left.
Mitchell finished the match with a career-high 24 saves. Rosie Bishop had two saves in the first half for the Aggies.
Bryn Athyn returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 17 with a North Eastern Athletic Conference match at Wilson College at 4 p.m.
