HERSHEY, Pa. – Mike Perkett scored his second goal of the season with 4:34 left in regulation to propel the Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team a 3-2 victory over Lebanon Valley College Friday night in Hersheypark Arena.
Perkett's goal capped off a wild third period that featured four goals. Vojtech Luza threw the puck across the ice from the right faceoff circle and ricocheted off the boards to Perkett. Perkett went back toward the left point to fire a wrist shot that deflected off a Dutchman defender pass goaltender Matt Forslund.
Bryn Athyn's power play—which went 2-for5—allowed the Lions (5-17-0) to get out to a 2-0 advantage. Devon Becker cashed in on the Lions' first man advantage of the evening with 58 seconds left in the first period for the opening goal. Becker collected the puck at center ice, gained the zone, and took a shot that was stopped by Forslund. The rebound came right back to Becker and he tucked it home for his fourth goal.
After a scoreless second period, Isaac Anderson netted his fifth goal of the season to widen the gap to two at the 3:40 mark of the third. Julion Level played the puck along the blue line to the high slot where Anderson would one-time it home. Alex Tan picked up his second assist of the game on the play.
The two-goal cushion would be short-lived at Lebanon Valley's Skyler Pugh answered back just 30 seconds later to make it a 2-1 affair. The score remained 2-1 until Mike Straub knotted the game at two at 14:50 with assists from Justin Hall and Tino Alunni.
McKenzie Chalmers earned the in goal for the Lions with a 29-save performance. Forslund finished up with 24 stops.
Bryn Athyn ends the 2018-19 season with a weekend series against visiting Stonehill starting on Friday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. in Junge Pavilion.
