BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's lacrosse team had a season-high eight players put their names in the goal column as the Lions defeated Keystone 17-1 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match Tuesday afternoon on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.
Kyle Shaffer led the Bryn Athyn (3-6, 2-1 CSAC) offense with a season-high seven points as he tallied four goals and three assists. He also had a game-high eight ground balls and three caused turnovers. Mike Perkett recorded the first three goals of his collegiate career in the victory. Jimmy Koniecki contributed two goals and three assists, while Cameron Leech (two goals, one assist) and James Vandegrift (one goal, two assists) each had three-point days.
On the defensive end, Dillon Fields racked up five ground balls and three caused turnovers. In goal, Brad DePasquale stopped both shots on goal he faced in the first quarter and Tristan Banks recorded six saves during the final three quarters.
Led by a 14-of-17 day at the faceoff X by Dan Condon, the Lions won 19 of the 22 faceoffs. The Lions also had 59 ground balls and outshot the Giants (0-9, 0-3 CSAC) 52-14.
Bryn Athyn raced out to a 7-0 lead during the opening quarter. Leech, Koniecki, and McCurdy all scored twice in the first 15 minutes and Vandegrift added a goal. In the second quarter, Flynn and Shaffer scored eight minutes into the second quarter to extend the gap to 9-0.
Alec Lloyd got the visiting Giants on the board with 6:41 left in the half to trim the margin to 9-1. White allowed Bryn Athyn to regain the nine-goal cushion by scoring at the 1:49 mark.
Perkett and Shaffer scored the Bryn Athyn third-quarter goals. In the fourth, Perkett and Shaffer both had two goals, while White added one of his own.
Keystone goalie Nicholas Vasquez made 13 saves.
Bryn Athyn will host Montclair State in a CSAC match on Saturday, April 13 at 3 p.m.
