Martinez leads men's cross country at PSU Abington Invitational

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, Pa. – Bryan Martinez recorded a seventh-place finish as the Bryn Athyn College men's cross country claimed third place at the Penn State University Abington Cross Country Invitational Saturday at Lorimer Park.

The Lions had a team score of 62 points. Lancaster Bible won the event with 27 points and The Penn Running Clu was the runner-up with 34 points. 

Martinez posted his fourth-career top-10 finish after completing the 8-kilometer course in 32:49.3, the third-best 8K time in his career.

Shane McCurdy ran the race in 34:56.5 to grab 14th in a field of 32 runners. Alex Hyatt nearly set a personal-best 8K time as he posted a time of 36:38.8 to take 18th. Tanner Congdon crossed the finish line with the 22nd-place time of 38:20.0. The final scoring spot went to Gaird Brock as he crossed the finish line in 26th with a time of 43:12.2

Andrew Coyle ended up with the 28th-place time of 44:24.8. Bennett Buick (48:08.3, 31st) and Ricky Tran (48:18.3, 32nd).

The Lions head to Lancaster Bible to compete in the Lancaster Bible College Homecoming Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 26.
