BRYN ATHYN, Pa. –Running on its home course, the Bryn Athyn College men's cross country team came in fourth place in the Bryn Athyn College Invitational Friday evening.
Trevor Kleckner led the Bryn Athyn charge as he overcame an early slip to complete the muddy 8-kilometer course with the 18th-place time of 33 minutes, 11.2 seconds. Shane McCurdy crossed the finish line in 26th overall with a time of 34:10.3
Thanks to a late kick in the final few meters, Tyree Sewell made a pass at the finish line to grab 39th place with a time of 36:47.6 and complete Bryn Athyn's five scoring positions.
Gaird Brock ended the day in 43rd place with a time of 38:22.5. Thomas Kozlowski completed his first 8K race with the 48th-place time of 39:03.5. Justin Rallo ran his second-best 8K of 2018 after crossing the line in 39:40.3 for a 50th-place finish. Zach Pamaylaon rounded out the lineup with a personal-best 8K time of 42:33.1 to end up in 54th.
The Lions finished the event with 123 points. Penn State Berks easily won the seven-team competition with 25 points, 29 ahead of second place Penn State Abington.
Penn State Abington's Benjamin Hoyer cruised to the individual title as he bested the field of 58 runners with a winning time of 28:50.6.
Bryn Athyn has the next three weeks to prepare for the Immaculata Invitational—the final race before the Colonial States Athletic Conference championship—on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 4 p.m.
