Strong second half leads women's soccer to 3-0 win over College of St. Elizabeth

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Thanks to a three-goal surge in the second half against the College of St. Elizabeth, the Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team pulled away for a 3-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over the Eagles on General Ronald K. Nelson Field and secured a place in the upcoming NEAC Tournament for the first time in program history.

Despite putting 12 shots toward the Eagle net, six on target, the Lions were unable to put one past keeper Marie Goodman and went into the half deadlocked at zero.

Then, Kristen White finally broke through with a strong run down the right wing and snuck a right-footed shot from the right corner of the penalty area inside the left post at 52:04 to give the Lions the lead.

Bryn Athyn continued to pepper the St. Elizabeth net with shots looking for an insurance goal and eventually got it from White with four minutes left in the match. Gianna Ciacciarelli played a low crossing pass that skipped through the Eagle defense until it found the foot of White at the right post, giving her an easy tap-in for the Lions' second goal.

Shelby Puccio provided the exclamation point for the victory as she recorded Bryn Athyn's final goal with 18 seconds left to play on a shot from the penalty spot. Ciacciarelli picked up an assist on Puccio's team-leading 14th goal of the season.

Allie Warren notched her fifth shutout of the season, stopping one shot. Marie Goodman made 14 saves for the College of St. Elizabeth.

The Lions ended the match with a season-high 30 shots while only allowed two attempts at their net.

Bryn Athyn (8-4-0, 4-3-0 NEAC) welcomes SUNY Cobleskill to General Ronald K. Nelson Field on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m.
