READING, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 5-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) loss to Penn State Berks Thursday night.
The Lions finish the regular season with an overall record of 9-6-0. 5-5-0 in NEAC play. Bryn Athyn will make its first appearance in the NEAC Championship Tournament after posted a 4-2-0 mark against the NEAC Southern Division. The opening round of the tournament will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. against an opponent still to be determined.
Berks (11-5-1, 9-0-0 NEAC) did a majority of its damage during the opening 45 minutes, scoring four times.
Karina Raykova opened the scoring at the 9:41 mark as she got her head onto a Caitlin Golden corner kick. Just under five minutes later, Monica Pinel deflected a Golden shot into the goal two make the score 2-0. Golden would put her name into the goal column at 24:31 for the Nittany Lions' third goal. Jardine chipped the ball into the Lion net after receiving a pass from Golden—capped off a five-point half—at 31:12 give Berks a four-goal halftime lead.
Gabby Crawford scored the Nittany Lions' second-half goal at 77:01 with an assist from Jardine.
Bryn Athyn's Allie Warren had a busy night in the Lion net as she stopped a program-record 21 shots. The Nittany Lions' Kaylee Frapaul made one save in the second half. Starter Paige Elmy didn't make a save during the opening 45 minutes.
