IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to Immaculata in a non-conference game on a rainy Monday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.
Ashley Rivera scored a goal in her third straight game just 10:12 into the contest to give Bryn Athyn (1-1-1) a 1-0 advantage. Rivera's goal came on a breakaway as she managed to tuck her shot inside the right post.
Immaculata (2-2-0) responded with the equalizing goal at 15:43 when Riley Rudd put her corner kick into the Lion net.
Allie Warren kept the Lions in the contest as she turned aside the next nine shots on goal she faced during the rest of regulation to force overtime. In the overtime, Warren was called upon to make three more saves.
The Mighty Macs broke through the Bryn Athyn defense with 51 seconds left in the first overtime session for the game-winning goal. Emily Gardyasz won the game after being sent free with a Rudd pass and then putting her shot in the right side of the net.
Warren finished the game with a season-high 13 saves. Immaculata's Brooke Shissler stopped one shot. The Mighty Macs outshot the Lions 31-4.
Bryn Athyn returns to General Ronald K. Nelson Field for a contest against Penn State Lehigh Valley on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m.
