BALTIMORE, Md. – The Bryn Athyn College women's tennis team will make its second straight Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament appearance after closing out the regular season with a 7-2 CSAC win over the College of Notre Dame (Md.).
Bryn Athyn will be the number four seed for the upcoming conference tournament after completing CSAC play with a 3-3 record. The Lions—who are 3-7 overall—will face top seed Cedar Crest in the semifinals on Saturday, April 27 at the Legacy Youth Tennis Education Center in Philadelphia.
The Lions got off to a 2-1 lead after doubles play with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Marie Daum and Nora Connelly were winners at No. 1 by defeating Ceida Portillo and Beedhya Rai, 8-2. In the No. 3 flight, Christine Daum and Anwyn Brock cruised to an 8-0 win against Ayana Johnson and Sam Grannas. Both teams now have three victories this season.
Bryn Athyn's momentum carried over to singles play with five Lions picking up a win.
Marie Daum was an 8-1 victor at No. 1 against Portillo. Connelly won her No. 2 singles match by an 8-1 score against Rai. At No. 4 singles, Alair Brock got passed Nnenne Odukwu 8-4. Wyncoll and Anwyn Brock were both 8-0 winners at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
