Female Athlete of the Year Award

Bryn Athyn, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College athletic department named, Freshman Cree Gurney, the recipient of the Female Athlete of the Year Award.

The Female Athlete of the Year Award goes to the female athlete that best exemplifies commitment, sportsmanship, athletic achievement and charity.
She  participated in many service events, including this past term's leadership class that partnered with Feel Good  to raise $1,550.  To quote Laura Nash, " She was the superb grill master at all the events, but did it out of wanting to help others."

Gurney, who played volleyball, led her team in Kills with (150), had a Service Ace percentage of (26.8%), was  2nd on the team in assists with 59.  And finished the season with 46 digs and 4.5 blocks.

Head Coach Adina Petersmeyer stated - "Cree is the kind of team player that every coach would like to have. She is hardworking, supportive, and dedicated. She has not missed a single practice or game in the last 5 years, going back to her ANC days. She is an outstanding athlete in general, but that has only come to her through a lifetime of hard work. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to coach Cree at Bryn Athyn College. I have not met any one else in this world that loves volleyball more than Cree and her passion for the sport is contagious. We are looking forward to Cree leading our offense again this fall."

Gurney demonstrated on and off the court the sportsmanship, commitment and charity which Bryn Athyn Athletics promotes.

Congratulations to Cree Gurney. GO LIONS!!
