Women's volleyball ends 2017 with 3-0 loss to Wells

AURORA, N.Y. – The Bryn Athyn College women's volleyball team wrapped up 2017 with a 3-0 (25-6, 25-12, 25-11) North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) loss to Wells College Saturday afternoon in the Schwartz Center.

Hannah Dewees recorded four kills and 11 digs to pace the Lions (1-19, 0-9 NEAC). Anja Weisser added three kills, while Amber Wood posted nine assists and eight digs.

Bryn Athyn had a 2-1 lead at the beginning of the opening set thanks to an Alexis Juritsch and Clayshona Cogman block and an Express service error. Then, the Express (18-11, 8-1 NEAC) dominated the rest of the set, going on a 24-4 run to rest of the way.

Weisser and Dewees led the Lions in the second set with two kills each. The Lions hit .029, their highest of the match, in the set. Wells got out to a 9-2 lead and never looked back as the Express took a 2-0 match lead.

Dewees, Weisser, and Juritsch all had one kill in the final set for the Lions. Bryn Athyn took a 1-0 lead on a Wells ball-handling error, but the Express came back with six straight points to go ahead by five. The Lions closed the gap to 7-4 on Dewees' kill. Wells answered back with a 9-2 run to extend the gap to double figures (16-6).

Olyvia Brazier had a match-high 15 kills and a .375 attack percentage for Wells. Eliza Schwab racked up 30 assists, while Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo had 13 digs.
