Men's Soccer Posts First Shutout of 2015; Beats Valley Forge 2-0

Phoenixville, Pa - The Bryn Athyn men's soccer team opened it 2015 campaign with 2-0 road victory over the University of Valley Forge Patriots. The Lions were led with goals by senior forward Siafa Dempster and freshmen back Jeremy Beese 

The Lions took control of the game in the first half out shooting the Patriots 10-2. Dempster opened up the scoring at the 17:46 mark scoring an unassisted goal. Then toward the end of the half freshmen back Beese scored another unassisted goal at the 33:25 mark of the first half. 

The Lions continued to outshoot the Patriots in the second half of play but were not able to capitalize on any more of their scoring opportunities. The Lions defense was able to limit the Patriots to just 4 shots in the second half. 

Goalkeepers Damilare Adeleye (2 saves) and Ryan Weinkopf (1 save) were able to handle the 3 shots the Patriots had on target. 

Coach Dan Perez seemed very pleased with the start of 2015 season, saying " Our young team showed passion and courage. We still have a lot of work to do, but we are on the right path".

The Lions get a chance to build on the opening day success this weekend as they play in over Labor Day weekend. The Lions host Hunter on Saturday Sept 5th at 3:00 pm and then travel on Sunday to Cairn in NEAC action at 3:00 pm.
