Lions fall to Centenary (N.J.) in CSAC opener

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Owen Ovecka scored his second goal of the season for the Bryn Athyn College men's soccer team in a 4-1 loss to host Centenary (N.J.) in the Lions' Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opener Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 1-0 on a Kenneth Pinedo goal 8:06 into the game, Ovecka would level the match just 1:03 later by intercepting a Cyclone pass, dribble around a defender, and shoot the ball into the lower right corner goal.

The game remained tied until Shane Wilson put Centenary (2-9-0, 1-0-0 CSAC) back in front with the first of his two goals at 24:34 by heading in a Brandon Strocchia cross. Wilson struck again just over five minutes later to extend the gap to 3-1.

Centenary's lead grew to three with 24 minutes remaining in the contest when Tom Parry tucked the ball into the right side of the Bryn Athyn net.

Bryn Athyn's DJ Eldridge came up with eight saves, while Centenary's Will Hodic made three stops.

Bryn Athyn (0-9-0, 0-1-0 CSAC) returns home to host Immaculata in the team's final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.
