ROSEMONT, Pa. – Bryn Athyn College forward Matheus Chaves and goalkeeper Michael Haas were both named to the All-Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) men's soccer team as honorable mention selections Thursday. The all-conference team was selected by the league's seven head coaches.
Chaves was Bryn Athyn's leading scorer with four goals and 10 points. All four of Chaves' goals and one of his two assists came in conference play. Chaves recorded a career-high seven points with three goals and one assist in a 5-1 victory over the College of Saint Elizabeth on Oct. 15. His fourth goal came against Rosemont on Oct. 19. He notched an assist on the Lions' lone goal versus Gwynedd Mercy on Sept. 21.
Haas started the season as a midfielder but was moved into the goalkeeping role for the final seven matches of the season due to injuries at the position. In those seven appearances in goal, including starts in six of them, Haas recorded 51 saves, a 2.62 goals against average, and a conference-best .761 save percentage in 550:09 of action. He made a career-high 13 saves against Keystone on Oct. 9 and 12 saves versus Rosemont on Oct. 19.
In addition to Chaves and Haas, Zachary Brock was also recognized by the CSAC, earning a place on the All-CSAC Sportsmanship Team.
Bryn Athyn finished the 2019 season with a 1-15-0 overall record, 1-6-0 against the CSAC.
