BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team set the program record for goals in a game as the Lions notched its first win on home soil this season, 12-0 over Penn State Lehigh Valley in a non-conference match Thursday night on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.
The 12 goals bested the Lions' previous record for scoring in a single game of 10, which came in a 10-0 triumph over SUNY Cobleskill on October 21, 2017. Bryn Athyn scored a program-best 10 goals in the opening 45 minutes.
Tori Titano led the offensive attack for Bryn Athyn (2-1-1) as she racked up a career-high seven points, including her first collegiate hat trick. Shelby Puccio and Daniella Portillo each had two goals. Gracelyn Bullard, Jissed Rosero Alegria, Anna Lauer, Marissa Miller, and Morgan Phillips all scored once.
Portillo, Bullard, Lauer, Miller, and Phillips each scored for the first time in their careers.
Ashley Rivera extended her point streak to four straight matches with a four-assist performance.
Titano and Puccio combined to score the opening five goals of the contest in eight minutes. Then, Rosero Alegria and Phillips found the back of the net on corner kicks to increase the gap to seven. Portillo, Lauer, and Bullard closed out the first-half scoring. Portillo's goal came on a penalty kick.
In the second half, Miller and Portillo scored.
Jen Vargas made three saves in 22 minutes for the NIttany Lions, while Brooke Brumbach closed out the game and stopped four shots.
Bryn Athyn returns to action with a non-conference match at Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
